"Ashtamangala" or the eight auspicious symbols (In Sanskrit ashta - eight, mangala - auspicious), or the Eight Auspicious Objects or Signs. In Buddism, these eight symbols of good fortune represent the offerings made by the gods to Shakyamuni Buddha immediatley after he gained enlightment. These symbols, though mired in legends and lore of Buddhism, are beautiful symbols that can be adopted by all cultures.
